Cinderella Sanyu, professionally known as Cindy or Cindy Sanyu, is a celebrated Ugandan musician, actress, and leader in the East African entertainment industry. Born on August 28, 1985, in Kampala, Uganda, Cindy hails from Mbale district and began singing at the age of six in her local church in Ntinda. She rose to prominence as a founding member of the award-winning girl group Blu*3, which achieved widespread acclaim in the early 2000s with hits like "Hitaji" and "Burrn." Following her departure from the group in 2008, Cindy launched a successful solo career, producing chart-topping tracks such as "Mbikooye," "Ayokyayokya," and "Selekta." In addition to her music, Cindy made her film debut in the Ugandan musical drama Bella, earning critical acclaim and multiple nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Uganda Film Festival Awards in 2018. She also starred in the 2019 film November Tear. Beyond her artistic achievements, Cindy is an influential figure in Uganda's music industry, serving as the Acting President of the Uganda Musicians’ Association (UMA). Cindy is a mother to her daughter, Amani, from her previous relationship with Mario Brunetti, and is engaged to actor and director Joel Okuyo Prynce. Known for her versatility and resilience, Cindy remains a trailblazer in both music and film across East Africa.
